Sam Taylor. F.&M.E
A production company withholding pay to a freelancer on the basis that their client has not paid them.
That’s the game currently being played by Sam Taylor of F&ME (Film and Music Entertainment (UK) Ltd) who claims that she cannot pay an invoice for sums owed to a freelancer for work done over 18 months ago (January 2024).
It is extraordinary unlikely that Sam herself would be able to convince Tesco that she won’t be paying for any of her groceries until she gets some money in her account from somewhere else, however she seems entirely sanguine that that kind of argument is acceptable when it comes to the company’s workers.
Anyone considering working for F&ME on any production would be strongly advised to get payment upfront. As it is exceedingly unlikely that that would be achievable (particularly given the company’s current penurious state, unable even to cover its short term bills) then the best option is not to risk working for the company at all.
