Tough times for TV writers.
A new report from the Writers Guild of Great Britain highlights the bleak landscape for work for writers in the industry (80% being freelancers).
A survey of 250 writers found that 67% were having to rely on savings to keep going (and 37% relying on partners' earnings) while more than 70% of respondents had earned £18,000 or less for their writing work in the last financial year.
As WGGB General Secretary Ellie Peers says: “The UK faces a serious loss of writing talent".
