A big warning about a couple of Producers taking on freelancers on the basis that a film production is fully funded, and then failing to pay their invoices when the required funds turn out not to be there.

The two in question, currently screwing numerous of the crew (and facility companies) out of their pay, are Monika Gergelova and Malcolm Winter of M and M Film Productions, the film being A Christmas to Remember (albeit not in a good way for these freelancers).

Apparently this is not the first time these two have pulled such a stunt, with freelancers talking of difficulty being paid on previous productions by this pair. Invoices are currently piling up for this production but only delays and a flood of excuses flowing back (where a little actual cash is actually needed).

A series of legal claims would seem to be the only way forward for the unfortunate freelancers who are obviously relying on being paid to meet their own bills, and would have been very unlikely to work on this shit show if they had known that the money wasn’t there to make it.

A warning for the future then, payment in advance would be the best route to go down if anyone is considering working for Monika Gergelova and Malcolm Winter in the future. That being unlikely in our business, a better option would be to simply avoid working for either of them.
