Georgette Turner. Spotless H20.

There are far too many companies in our industry that fail to pay their freelancers in full and on time. Many of them end up featuring on here in order that freelancers can be alerted to which are not to be relied on, particularly important right now given the paucity of work around and the often pressing need for bills to be paid.

It is poor when companies do this kind of thing but exponentially worse when one freelancer does it to another, given that they really should know better. A situation which is currently the case with Georgette Turner who, apart from being a freelance Location Manager/Production Manager, also co-owns and runs a location waste services company called Spotless H20.

In this case, the freelancer in question did 12 days work for the company but then, when the invoice went in, was suddenly presented with a range of extra terms and conditions which Georgette declared had to be met before she would pay up what she owed.

A case of pretty obvious delaying tactics, but also it seems a consequence of the increasingly toxic personal relationship which had developed between the two parties, even before payment day. Needless to say of course, none of this nonsense should ever get in the way of people being paid what they are owed, given that there is no dispute that the freelancer did do the work and that the money is owed to her.

As it stands this one looks likely to be headed towards legal action but, until Georgette does stop playing games and stumps up what she owes, it would be very wise for freelancers to bear her behaviour in mind when it comes to any future financial relationship.
