Alia Kadarauch
It takes a special kind of unpleasantness to pick the pocket of a new entrant to the TV or Film industry by failing to pay them the legal minimum.
Special because it not only takes advantage of their eagerness to get a start in the industry but also because runners and assistants are amongst the least able to afford to work for illegally low rates of pay.
Alia Kadarauch doesn’t care about that very much however, not so long as she can get workers for cheap for her commercial music production. With that in mind she advertised for workers on the Facebook Runners page, a site which specifically and firmly requires all employers to pay at least the minimum wage to anyone recruited there.
The rule exists because, apart from the immorality of picking a young person’s pocket by not paying them the full amount, it is of course against the law, and has been since 1998. Alia is unbothered by such trifles it seems however, happy to take the money from those who should rightfully have it and then lie repeatedly about doing so.
Alia is apparently keen to get more work in film and music commercial videos. If she is successful in that desire and comes looking to employ any other freelancers, it is certainly advisable to get a firm, written commitment from her that she will pay whatever it is she is promising before the work starts. Or better still, avoid the risk altogether.
